If you are serious about teaching your toddler, preschooler and children up to age 7 about the love of reading wonderful stories...this is a "must have" for your library. Beatrix Potter has the best animals stories...and each will become like old friends the more you read them and laugh with your child. Dont be afraid of the English wording...your child will understand more than youd believe. The more you read...the better each story becomes...and your child(ren) will have their own favorites. The price is excellent, the collector box beautiful and strong. Each little book pure bliss for its contents and wonderful pictures. Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

I love collecting worth while childrens books, especially ones that are illustrated well. I loved Beatrix Potter when I was little. Even now this box set is a great inspiration to me. I will have this set with me for the rest of my life!

My son is not yet two, but loves it when I read these books to him. I think all kids enjoy rabbits, mice, frogs, toads, etc. And as someone who read these books as a young child, it brought back many good memories.
The presentation is excellent. The box and books are very well done and will certainly last for many, many years.

I will never forget when this ( similar / printed in England / different edition ) arrived in the post two weeks after the birth of my first child.My aunt lived in London England at the time. The graciousness of such a lavish gift ( to be cherished over the generations)took my breath away. As the wee one grew she delighted in choosing a book ( from what must have appareared to be a large library)each nite before bed. Later she shared the joy of the tales with younger siblings and visiting children of all ages.
I make it a point to send a complete set* to the first born of each close* relative or friend.The subtlety of hues and the pastoral pace never ceases to enchant the readers or ones read to alike.
I shall never forget the moment I opened the unexpected parcel from far across the pond and realized my child had been gifted with a legacy to pass on and cherish for generations to come.

It may be a cliche to give five stars to a collected edition of the Beatrix Potter tales, but I think this boxed set of the complete Peter Rabbit books is really deserving of every star it gets and more. The Beatrix Potter tales are really a lasting contribution to literature for children, and appeal to children and adults alike. The stories dont really need much praise here (except that I confess to finding Little Pig Robinson a rather dull, waffling book that was written during Potters later years), but still this boxed set is well worth its price. I know its a hundred dollars and more expensive than the omnibus edition of the tales, but you can really savour the original format of the books. The stores unfold gracefully and the format is more pleasing to the eye, as its perhaps more organised than the cumbersome omnibus edition. Of course, the illustrations are so very picture-perfect, and the reproductions make them look more vivid than ever. A minor quibble is about the six extra illustrations in Peter Rabbit, as they have made the story drag a little as compared to the final published version we know now. That said, I enjoy this new set tremendously, as its well-produced on the whole, with nice paper and a new font that is more pleasing to the eye. And the box is really a nice touch too. So what more needs to be said than invest in a copy of this superb Beatrix Potter presentation box.

Beatrix Potters, The World of Peter Rabbit, book set is fantastic. We purchased this set for our seven year old son because the books were recently pulled from our public library. Potters vocabulary affirms the intelligence of children and her imaginiative world of talking animals is captivating for both young and old. This set of classics is well worth the dollars sacrificed to place it on our home library shelves!

I bought this product for my mother-in-law (at the request of my mother-in-law) who is 79. She had just seen the movie Miss Potter with Rene Zellweger on TV and wanted to read the books. I got on Amazon and told her the choices - nothing would do but the boxed set. And having received it she talks every day about reading one of the little books. She absolutely loves it. The illustrations are of course, beautiful and the stories sweet. The books are as Beatrix Potter thought they should be - little for little hands. Its a beautiful set.

I bought this box as a gift to my family, as we have always loved the stories by Beatrix Potter. Weve had a couple of books standing in the bookshelf since we (the parents of the family) were small ourselves. We have two boys ages 6 and 3, and both of them have fallen in love with Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny and the rest of the animals.
The box itself is both handy and pretty, and we placed it directly in our bookshelf. The books inside are the same as the ones that can be bought separately, and they all contain Potters beautiful artwork and well-written stories.
All in all we, the whole faily, are very pleased with this buy. It just couldnt get better.
Im also really pleased with the prices here at Amazon, as we would have to pay about $300 for this boxed set in Norway.

This is a wonderful collection in a beautiful box. I purchased it for my daughters first birthday because I wanted to get her something more lasting than a toy. I was given the 12 book collection as a child, and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin was the first book I ever read by myself. I remember loving how the small books were perfectly suited to my small hands. (Thus, if you are thinking about getting the book with the complete collection in one, I would not recommend it for a child. It would be better for a budget conscious person to get a collection with fewer books.) The stories are so appealing and timeless, and the illustrations are just beautiful. The price may be high, but I consider it to be an investment, and one that I highly recommend.

Ive bought the books for the kids I will have someday, but the beautiful box was damaged when I opened it. Ive tried to return it, but the shipment costs are high... Amazon should be more responsable for it! But the histories are lovely...

My four year old granddaughter loves to have these stories read to her from the full collection I purchased for her mother when she was young. My daughter-in-law loves to read and teaches first grade. She just had her first child and I gave this as a gift. It is wonderfully bound and can certainly be kept for future generations.

Anyone who is a Beatrix Potter or Peter Rabbit fan should purchase this set. In my opinion it is a treasure for adults, but also a treat for children. It is a set to protect and take care of, so I would read to the child and not allow them to handle the books. This only applies if you are an adult and a true Peter Rabbit fan. I was amazed at the box when I opened it. I purchased a second set for a friend who also adores Peter Rabbit.

After having seen the movie Miss Potter, with Renee Zellweger, I was fascinated with this womans courage and talent. I felt compelled to buy one of her titles in order to read the story, but more importantly to view the drawings that are so much a part of what she created. The set of books is exactly what I was hoping for. After watching Ms. Potter with my kids, we had to order her entire collection. The books are just the perfect size for little hands and each one is hardback. The case is very nice and sturdy. Each book also has a jacket on it. My kids beg to read these books.

I have actually owned this set of books for almost 40 years and have read them repeatedly to my children (and myself). This new set is for one of my children and her new baby. Her fond memories of this series prompted her request for the books rather than some other baby item that some might have considered more "practical". As you can see, I have raised my children to have their priorities in order. No family, whether they have children or not, should be without this classic of childrens literature!

This book set is really lovely and is the actual original small hard-covered books with paper dust cover. Just what I wanted! The product shown in the picture does not do it justice and is hard for buyer to actually visualise the product. I just love THEM. Service from Amazon to Australia could not be faulted.

Im a young adult, and I had most of the collection as a kid.
I was perusing amazon, just for fun, and saw this set for a hundred bucks... I showed my sister....she encouraged the purchase...and I bought it. Im in college, so a hundred bucks is like a thousand. Its a GREAT BUY, no doubt; this is a timeless collection, and this edition is a step up than the previous.
No regrets. Keeping it for my own kids.

This is a wonderful little box set and ideal for new readers. Beatrix Potter stories vary in their quality of writing, but all are just wonderfully and whimsically illustrated. Lovely to have them all in their individual books rather than the large collected volume that we have been using at home. As another reader noted, this is great for little hands, but watch out they are easy to lose!
the stories are lovely, most people will know the story of Peter Rabbit and probably Jemima Puddleduck. There are some absolutely wonderful stories in this collection and you will really enjoy getting to know them with your children. The tale of Samuel Whiskers, Two Bad Mice, and Ginger and Pickles are particular favourites of my 3 and 4 year olds. As some characters turn up in other stories, it is a wonderful world for them to inhabit and identify with.
there may be some worries that, as they are 100 years old or so, some things in them are particular to the time and may not be easily explained - but why should this matter? Worlds are full of strange and wonderful things - of imperial measurements, strange rhymes and odd jobs. Of self-fitting candles and pounds, shilling and pence.
The characters are wonderful and the stories fun - beautifully illustrated too. I would also take this chance to highly recommend the animated dvd and videos of these stories, these are near perfect renditions of the stories and are great for the children to add to the experience - they have Niamh Cusack as Beatrix Potter part narrator.
